Age: old enough to listen to a story and enjoy painting with you: 18 months up to 3yrs

pop-in any time between 10am-5pm Tues-Fri during term-time with your littlie (bring a friend to join in the fun!)

choose a book to share from our Story Menu or, Bring your little one's Favourite Book, then,

choose a ceramic keepsake to paint together that is linked to the story - our menu will provide you with ideas and inspiration - the cost depends on the item you choose to paint: starting from £6.95...

Your little one can enjoy a drink and a biscuit to round off the activity just the same as our Holiday Activity Workshop (see below).

Regrettably any damage caused to our story books will be charged to your bill.

Holiday Group Activity Workshop

Tues & Fri at 10am
£8 per child per workshop (this is a discounted group rate, the story and keepsake to paint is pre-allocated by Hands-on Art)

INCLUDES:

Story time led by a dedicated member of our team who will encourage the children to actively engage with the story;
A ceramic painting project for you and your child to enjoy together, led by a dedicated member of our team, directly related to the Story and discounted from the shelf price of our pottery painting range;
Squash and a biscuit for each child once they have washed their hands and removed the apron provided by Hands-on Art.

Total Activity length: approximately 45 minutes (this depends on your child on the day)
Number of Places: Max 8 children per workshop (remember there will be 8 adults too!)

The children learn to use lots of tools: sponges, stamps, stencils, brushes, fingers and stickers!
Watch their fine motor skills and concentration levels improve through the fun of creativity.
It's always amazing to see the transformation from powdery glaze to fired shiny permanent colour.

We use PayPal's secure payment system to accept all major credit and debit cards.
You will receive an emailed receipt from PayPal, then, within 48 hours, we will email you confirmation of your activity booking with a Unique ID.
Please look for an email from: office@hands-onart.co.uk as this is a business email it may well be accidentally redirected into your junk/spam folder.

A different story each week!

Settle your littlie onto our Story blanket and let the journey begin...

After we have read the story, met the characters, shared the adventures and even added our own!... the children will don aprons, clamber onto a cushioned seat and join you to paint a pottery piece related to the story... take a look at the examples below to see what you might paint...

Tea or coffee is available to help you relax into the activity too!

After approx. half an hour the children will be encouraged to wash their hands (climbing the "magic steps" carefully) before having squash and a biscuit to round the morning off.

These activities will introduce the children to the different tools, equipment and techniques that can be used to decorate our pottery (at a reduced price) then, if you choose to come back another time to make gifts or just for fun they will know what to do.

Collect your fired keepsake the following week.

This activity is now available as a Story Party

for children aged 4 & under, at the suggestion of one of our regular Story attendees!

The Story Party Activity runs for approx. 45mins with a similar format to our Story Ceramics workshop: story, guided activity then followed by birthday cake or, you may wish to hire the tables for a little longer and stay for a Party Tea.

The Story Party Activity cost per guest depends on the item you choose to accompany your story: tile, character figure, egg cup, character hanger etc. and includes a dedicated member of staff to meet & greet your guests; share the story; lead the activity; ceramic item; prep for firing & firing of the children's creations; individual wrapping of fired work ready for collection the following week.

There is a maximum of 10 children - as each small child will be accompanied by a parent that means 20 guests!! (you only pay for the children taking part in the activity).

All-Inclusive Cost Includes:

staff member to meet & greet your guests;
tuition & supervision of the painting activity by a dedicated team member (not responsible for behaviour of your guests);
ceramic item per guest;
glazes;
aprons, tools & equipment appropriate to the painting activity;
cleaning & re-setting of activity tables for your party tea;
clearing up after your party;
preparation of ceramics for firing;
firing of your ceramics in our kiln;
wrapping of each item ready for collection a week later.

Story Ceramics Group Activity Terms & Conditions:

By signing a child up for any activity at Hands-on Art, the parent/legal guardian of the child has agreed:

1. to take full responsibility for theactions and behaviour of said child during their absence – Hands-on ArtAdventures reserves the right to decline attendance if a child’s behaviour isdetrimental to the groups’ enjoyment of the activity, regrettably any breakages must be paid for.

2. to take full responsibility if said child chooses to leave the Hands-on Art Studio - our staff cannot leave the Studio to go after them.

Bookings should be paid for in full at point of purchase. Payments can be made in person at the studio or by card over the phone, during our opening hours Tues-Sat 10am-5pm tel. 01753 206 265; or by Bank Transfer (details on request). Payments are non-refundable and considered both booking and cancellation fee. In the unusual event of Hands-on Art Adventures cancelling a workshop, a further date will be offered or a full refund.

Please arrive promptly for your activity.

Your Story pottery will be ready for collection one week after your Story activity. We quality check every item when it comes out of the kiln, before we pack it ready for you to collect. You are very welcome to unpack your items in the Studio before taking them home. Unfortunately we cannot be held responsible for any damage that occurs to your items once they have been taken from the Studio.

*Please collect your pottery within 3 months unfortunately we just don't have storage space to keep painted ceramics beyond this time.

Cancellation Policy:

If you cannot attend the workshop you have booked, we cannot offer a refund as the workshop will have gone ahead as planned.
If Hands-on Art Adventures cancel the workshop you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
